About

Hi! I'm Yash, a product designer working at Adobe. Currently based in in the city of Delhi, I was brought up in Mumbai, India.

Learnt Industrial Design in my undergrad.

Feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn, Instagram or Twitter (yes I still call it that).

Professionally…

At Adobe, I help social media enthusiasts and hobbyists create cool photo and video edits right from the comfort of their phones through Photoshop Express.

Previously, I've been a product design intern at Samsung and Postman. At Samsung, I helped the camera team reimagine their video editing workflows to help video editors seamlessly create content through Samsung's offerings. At Postman, I helped the search team utilise the search index database to surface relevant content to software developers in order to provide a customised experience based on their activity.

To the generous mentors who shaped me, thank you!

What differentiates me

as a designer

I proactively seek feedback

I never shy away from asking for feedback on my work, have retrospective conversations with my stakeholders and eagerly welcome advice.

I always sharpen the axe first

I promptly seek out people to talk to and ask questions in order to gain clarity and figure things out. What I don’t know, I learn fast.

I adapt to the situation

I’ve learnt to forgo the ideal design process. I embrace the situation on its present merits and solve problems with the what’s at hand. I see constraints as a friend, not as an enemy.

In my off time, I read books, watch author interviews, update my Goodreads, write stories and poetry, write articles, stalk blogs, watch the latest cricket match India is playing, cook the next 15 minute recipe off YouTube, add stuff to 'Watch later' (but the list is always growing), stare at my stock investments, crib about ill-chosen typefaces, text back under 30 minutes, pop a bottle of Coke, find new places to eat, surf Reddit, look at someone else’s portfolio website only to end up attempting to redesign mine and then read some more books.
